Social Dumping and the GATT Policy Negotiations
In relation to the GATT Policy Negotiations, Christopher Mark (1993) provided the following explanation and/or definition of Social Dumping: An unfair trade practice whereby an exporter achieves a cost advantage over its rivals in foreign markets through inadequate labor laws or lack of human rights protection in its home country .A similar concept, referring to inadequate environmental regulations, is refer-ed to asenvironmental dumping. Both have been suggested as topics for future multilateral negotiations following the Uruguay Round.
